Antigua, an Elegant and Glamorous Restaurant
Gourmet 23/02/2010
Restaurante Antigua, located in the hills of Barcelona, is a clear exponent of elegance and sophistication, bearers or an original and ever surprising menu.
This locale goes to great lengths to bring its clients signature Mediterranean cuisine in a singular atmosphere. At Antigua, they know how to look after their guests. Personal service is always present, because, as they say, "we lean towards a service and cooking formula that is simple, tasty and refined". The restaurant also comes equipped with a dining room reserved for all manner of festivities.
Its special menu is littered with dishes in which the chef lets his imagination run amuck. He blends market cuisine with subtle personal touches that churn out original dishes with highly unique flavours; dishes you will not find anywhere else. Classic entrees include pulpo a feira (Galician-style octopus) with potato omelette prepared on low flame and antichucho sauce, or fresh croaker with olive and walnut costra (the crispier part of the paella) and served with quinoa, gorgonzola and figs.
In addition to these two tempting choices, the restaurant also features rosemary-crisped suckling pig, brie-filled breaded potato roll served on a bed of herbs and berries or foie mi-cuit with an orange and honey croquante. Wines are also a much appreciated aspect. This locale offers a well-researched selection featuring over 100 labels, most of which correspond to a Catalan designation of origin. However, they do offer several foreign wines, including Port. Let us also mention a small menu that lists a selection of waters, a trend that is becoming more commonplace in a large number of restaurants.
This locale boasts an intimate décor based on ochre and orange hues. Furthermore, the music sounding in the background forges a relaxing dining environment.
