Chef of the Future and Best Sommelier of 2011

The International Academy of Gastronomy has recimente presenting awards given annually, with which it intends to recognize the work and the merits of top chefs and sommeliers in the world in promoting food culture. This time, Spain has two winners: Ramon Freixa and Jose Polo

The Catalan chef based in Madrid has won the Chef of the Future, ex aequo with Josean Martinez Alija and Angel Leon. This distinction is the final acknowledgment to the work of Catalan chef, its contribution to the culinary cutting edge and forward-looking and undeniably adds to the extensive track record of awards and grades over the two years since his debut in Madrid . Two Michelin stars, three suns in the directory Repsol, Millésime 2010 award for Best Restaurant and Madrid Fusion 2011 Award for Best Restaurant, among others.

Ramon Freixa has two stores in Madrid Ramón Freixa Madrid restaurant and the Hotel Unique. As good Catalan has a place in Barcelon, the Raco d'en Freixa, his parents' restaurant which took over in 1998.

For his part, José Polo, director, owner and chief wine cellar and restaurant Atrium is done with the award for Best Sommelier in 2011. This award is recognition for the work of José Polo for the last 25 years and is in addition to other prestigious international distinvciones the winery as the Grand Award from the American magazine "Wine Spectator" in 2003.

Rated as one of the best in the world, the winery has some of Atrium 35,000 bottles of 3,000 references from 20 different countries, all highly sought after and brought individually by the owner and treasurer. Among them are real treasures of the wine as Chateau Latour vertical since 1945 Romanee Conti (including Montrachet, which are only 2,000 bottles a year), Dom Pérignon since 1966, Pingus, Vega Sicilia in 1918 and Chateau d'Yquem vertical from 1806 to present, the jewel of the house.

These awards, a benchmark in the world of gastronomy and sommeliers, corroborate the trajectory of these two great masters. His name joins that of other famous chefs in our country also obtiuvieron at the time this prestigious award such as Martin Berasategui (1997), Sergi Arola (1999), Paco Roncero (2005) and Albert Adria (2007).
