Comes "The Great rival" GT Club team

A new addition adds to the great family of the exclusive Club GT cars. Its members can now enjoy the McLaren MP4 12C. The first and only unit in Spain and is registered in the garage of the Club.

The "great rival" Ferrari "in Formula One now moves to better roads and garages. With the release of 12C MP4 Woking firm becomes a great builder.

The McLaren MP4 12C line impresses with its elegance and minimalism, the same who found the GT-CLUB partners in every corner of the spectacular Woking factory, designed by Norman Foster, in his visit to the headquarters of McLaren.

Frank Stephenson, the designer of this 'machine', has said that just the thread of the project has been the purity of the linas, taking with it withdraw or not to add too exotic exuberance design.

While the design is what first set of users, this is not the key to excellence. Its secret lies just under the skin. A flawless finish and an interior that looks really spacious were the results of a building designed, as in racing cars, from the inside out in which the volume dedicated to the driver was the starting point. Just the difference of any rival McLaren are engineering solutions. All of them, and even some details that are prohibited in Grand Prix cars were taken from the F1.

A carbon fiber chassis, a true "platform-tub" that is solely for the cabin, with two rectangular tube subframe aluminum front suspension anchor either to support the engine and rear suspension.

Although the builders flee, usually carbon fiber because of its cost and difficulty of implementation McLaren, along with the Austrian firm Carbon-Tech have developed a new manufacturing process: the central structure chassis and weighs only 80 kg, less than half lighter than its competitors.

And under the disadvantage of carbon fiber is difficult to repair, McLaren not only solves the problem with the deformable structure but also placing pieces "fuse", easy to replace, which preserves the monocoque break.

The engine, the key

Although McLaren so far produced no engines, and was thought at the choice of a Mercedes engine for this model, we preferred to make a proper engine for the MP4 12C. Ron Dennis wanted a powerful yet easy-engine, low weight. The choice opted for a 3.8 liter V8 Biturbo capable of up to 7,500 rpm and deliver an output of 600 hp.

The presence of the overfeed involves two key advantages: reduced consumption and especially elasticity. The maximum torque, no less than 600 Nm, remains constant between 3,000 and 7,000 rpm, this indicates that the engine is very gradual, smooth, and that is very easy to carry even at low speed. Change is coupled to a double-clutch 7-speed, with the peculiarity that the driver can select the next gear you want to engage.

This engine was also designed to help the dynamic behavior. The engine change is very short, only 1.20 meters and is centrally placed back but quite advanced. This was possible because many auxiliary elements are mounted sideways.

The presentation of this last-awaited addition to the collection of GT-CLUB was held at the headquarters of the Club in Barcelona. A luxury available to members of the Club which is based in Madrid and Barcelona.
